I did somehow hear some of this recently, can’t think where or when – but thank you for the link to the full episode(s).I wish I had more time to keep up with everyone whose writing I enjoy, and I’m sorry not to be a more frequent participant here.By the by, I see that the writing-wine-NZ connexion is being reinforced with what looks like a scenery-chewing film adaptation, filmed in Auckland, of Elizabeth Knox’s “The Vintner’s Luck”. Trailer here at the moment.

Scenery-chewing is right! Demented wigs, handsome angels, not-so-laced-up bodices and passionate wine makers – what more would you need for a night at the flicks?!Speaking of wine films, did you get to see Bottle Shock last year? I know that Tomas talks to Jim Barrett of Chateau Montelena for The Wine Geese. He’s a fascinating character.

No, I haven’t seen Bottle Shock yet. I have Mondovino lurking on the laptop for a rainy day, though, and I gather there’s another wine spoofumentary on the way – so no shortage of wine watching. We have a coupla bottles of Montelena on the shelf, though. Maybe I could pick up some sale-inducing stories…I must find out when the NCOG trip to Sunnyside is on – we’re not so far away these days and perhaps I could sneak in at the back.

  4. Caroline says:

It sounds as if Bottle Shock rather sensationalised the whole thing – despite Jim Barrett having had a hand in approving the script for the film. I’d still like to get a look at it, and at Mondovino. We’re heading to Sunnyside on Sunday 9 August. I’ll email you with the details – maybe see you there!
