Tweet to Eat: Electric, Cork
Replying to an early tweet from @ElectricCork on Saturday morning about their new lunch menu got us a feast, compliments of the restaurant.
We loved: the flavoursome oil that accompanied our bread and olives starter, a HUGE fillet of “sustainable pollock” – our server left us no doubts about the fish!, and a most perfectly cooked medium rare steak sandwich. Don’t miss the sticky toffee pudding. We shared it, but I could have taken that baby on all by myself, even after a ginormous fish feed.
We were also impressed with the fact that we were able to order (ahem!) lunch till 5.30pm, making it the perfect venue for food before we headed to a Movies by Moonlight screening at Blackrock Castle. (I might just be the last person in the world to see Avatar on the big screen.)
One meal does not a restaurant make but after several lunches downstairs (mine’s a salt beef sandwich) with the Student Siblings over the last few months and a December dinner in the restaurant – the Husband and I, both freelancing now, were having a Very Small Christmas Party – this is a place well worth checking out.
With lots of buzz in the bar (and pinchos, next thing to try there) and a truly gracious restaurant space upstairs, Electric eats as good as it looks.
