Guzzle: Breastfeeding for Survival
Breastfeeding: it’s a very emotional, very touchy subject. It’s what I chose to write about for Issue two of Irish food magazine Guzzle. This publication was focused on the Intimacy of Eating, the complex and often messy relationships between food and love that are far from the romantic ideal.
My piece – Breastfeeding for Survival: Breast is best, they said – was about trying to make sense of a new world through a very intimate food and way of feeding. Thanks to editor Jane Gleeson for giving me the opportunity to write this feature. It wasn’t easy! But I’m very proud of the end result, especially with the eye-catching illustrations by Marina Marinina.
You can get your own copy of the magazine at www.guzzle.ie.
“Award-winning food writer, broadcaster and author Caroline Hennessy discovered as a child that cooking and baking were the most delicious ways of winning friends and influencing people. She hasn’t stopped since.
Professionally, she has been focused on food since editing Ireland’s first food website for RTÉ in 2000 and establishing the blog Bibliocook: All About Food in 2005. Chair of the Irish Food Writers’ Guild, she is the author of two books about beer and food, takes any opportunity to make her signature double chocolate porter brownies and is always at her happiest feeding family and friends.”
