A mushroom hunt


Food writer, broadcaster and author Caroline Hennessy has been focused on food and writing since editing Ireland’s first food website for RTÉ in 2000. Chair of the Irish Food Writers’ Guild, she established the award-winning Bibliocook: All About Food in 2005, is the author of two books about beer and food and has a column in the Irish Examiner in which she writes about small food producers and the ways in which they develop and maintain a sustainable local food system.

    Caroline – Brilliant – I can’t believe the memories that came flooding back when I read about our mushroom picking days. The aroma of the mushrooms cooking on the aga cooker are coming back to me!!!I’m sure you could write a whole book on our memories in Oldcastletown!!! Keep up the good work!

    Maria: I have very fond memories of those days and I think that being far from home really makes me think a lot about them. Maybe my current reading material – Irish cookery books and old-fashioned Irish novels – is exacerbating the situation!
